Milton market snapshot

Milton's average price was $977,576 in August, up 1.4% from a year ago, with detached homes holding at $1,238,259 while townhouses and condos eased. Homes take about 29 days to sell, so the market is steadier here than in much of the region and sellers still need realistic pricing.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. In Ontario, only a lawyer can complete the transfer and register your deed. Ownright handles the full closing for Milton buyers and sellers — title search, mortgage, and registration — online, at a flat fee.

Milton charges only Ontario's land transfer tax — there is no municipal LTT. On an average-priced Milton home around $945,000, that is about $15,375. First-time buyers can claim up to $4,000 back, bringing it to roughly $11,375.

Homes in Campbellville, Nassagaweya, and the escarpment areas usually run on private well and septic rather than municipal services. Before closing, we build in the right conditions — water potability testing, the well record, and a septic inspection. Many of these lands are also within the Greenbelt or the Niagara Escarpment plan, which can limit building and additions, so we flag that too.

Beyond land transfer tax, budget for your lawyer's fee, title insurance, a title search, and adjustments for prepaid property taxes. Rural properties may add well and septic tests. Ownright quotes a flat legal fee up front so there are no surprises on closing day.

Milton has no municipal vacant home tax. Ontario's Non-Resident Speculation Tax and the federal foreign-buyer rules can still apply — we check whether they affect your purchase before closing.

Most Milton purchases and sales close on the date set in your agreement. Ownright starts your file as soon as you sign, keeps the title search and mortgage instructions moving, and coordinates with the other side so closing day stays on track.
